All images in Sterling Theme can be used only on the demo version. You will need to upload your own images for your site.
Instead of automatic update from Sterling 2.x, Sterling 3.0 requires manual theme installation and manual content transfer, as Sterling 3.0 is built on a different content editor, that is not yet compatible with WPBakery.

However, with new version you’ll get new design and functionality described in documentation.
